24th February - 25th February: New Mills and District Railway Modellers Exhibition
New Mills and District Railway Modellers are holding their 44th annual exhibition in Chapel-en-le-Frith High School from 10am-4.30pm both days. March: Knitted Chicks & Bunnies Appeal
Blythe House Hospice is looking for knitters to get involved with its Easter appeal for 2018!
If you’re nifty with the needles and would like to make some chicks or bunnies for the hospice, please pick up a pattern from the reception desk, or down load the patterns now here:
1st – 31st March: Make a Will Month
This year, March is 'Make a Will Month', when a number of local solicitors from across the local area offer Wills at a special rate to you and donate the fee back to Blythe House Hospice. All of the money donated by you for the drafting of the Will is given directly to Blythe House Hospice by your chosen solicitor to help us to provide care and support to local people, their families and carers. Saturday 7th April: Derby University Easter Fun Day
12pm mid-day, Buxton Cricket Ground, SK17 6SF
There will be a number of fun, family friendly activities such as a Bouncy Castle, Inflatable Slide, gladiator joust, face painting, and Easter egg hunt… plus much more. The event offers FREE entry to all attendees, with a small suggested donation to Blythe House for the interactive activities taking place. Sunday 15th April: Abseil
Millers Dale Bridge, Peak District
With pillars and arches spanning a narrow gorge over a river, Millers Dale Bridge provides one of the most spectacular abseil sites in the Peak District. £20 registration fee applies, along with £75 minimum sponsorship.
1st – 31st May: Sunflower Memories Appeal
Remember a loved one by dedicating a sunflower to them with Blythe House Hospice. Your personalised beautiful bright sunflower will display the name of who it is dedicated to and will shine in our garden throughout the appeal and following that is yours to keep. Saturday 5th May: Bog Commander
Hollinsclough, Nr Buxton
Are you ready for a challenge? Run for Blythe House Hospice at the ever-so-muddy Bog Commander 2018! Grab your friends, step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself
for charity in the 6km obstacle course around the stunning Peak District countryside.

Saturday 12th May: Women's Health & Wellbeing Day
Drop in and find out about women's health & wellbeing. Information on the day including: complementary tharapies, exercise for health and breast awareness. 10am - 2pm at Blythe House Hospice.
8th - 14th May: Dying Matters Week
Dying Matters week aims to help people talk more openly about dying, death and bereavement, and to make plans for the end of life. Details of our planned events and activities during this week will follow shortly.
18th May: Sunflower Memories Coffee Morning
Come along and enjoy one of our delicious cakes and wander through the sea of sunflowers in our peaceful garden, the perfect way to reflect upon your loved one’s life. At Blythe House between 10:30 and 12:30.
28th May: Great Manchester Run
If you're looking for a running event where you can experience a true Manchester welcome, then look no further! This is your chance to be part of a fantastic weekend of running in the city. Saturday 2nd June: Buxton Rotary Charity Bazaar & Summer Fair
We will be holding a stall at this family event, please stop & say hi if you are out shopping!

Saturday 30th June: Thinking Outside the Box
This event is to help encourage people and communities to talk about death, dying, bereavement and loss, to enable people to share their preferences and wishes about the future and to support each other in practical and emotional ways.
Bringing together at one venue a range of providers, services, faith, spiritual and legal representatives, delivered with creativity and imagination
22nd June: Cavendish Golf Day
Following the incredible success of 20164’s Golf Day we are holding another competition at Cavendish Golf Club. This day is now fully booked. Sponsorship packages are still available, please contact us here if you would like to support this event.
Sunday 1st July: Skydive
Hibaldstow Airfield, North Lincolnshire
Experience the thrill of a lifetime, take part in a sponsored skydive and support Blythe House Hospice. Imagine feeling the rush as you free fall at 125mph from 15,000 feet above the ground – skydiving is truly a once in a lifetime experience! All training is provided and no experience is necessary.
£75 registration fee applies, along with £450 minimum sponsorship.
Saturday 14th July: High Peak Orchestra Concert
7.30pm at Church of St John the Baptist, St Johns Road, Buxton, SK17 6SH
Our friends at the High Peak Orchestra are holding a fundraising concert in aid of Blythe House.
The concert will include music by Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and performance by soloist Mathew McLachlan.

21-22 September: Peak District Challenge
The Peak District Challenge is a picturesque trekking challenge that offers five levels of difficulty for hill walkers and runners. It’s a race against the clock to see if you can cover 10km and be Back Before Dark, or complete the Copper Challenge in 9 hours, the Bronze challenge in 12 hours or the Silver or Gold challenge within 24 hours. The routes all start at Hathersage and are in loops. It's organised by Wilderness Development, an established outdoor activity company based in the Peak District. 7th October: Halle Gala Concert
The Hallé brings the magic of London’s West End right to the centre of Buxton, with songs from some of the most celebrated musicals to come from Theatre Land. With star vocalist, don’t miss out on the chance to hear all your favourite pieces performed by the award winning Halle orchestra. Keep your eyes open for more information about this exciting event. September – December: Light up a Life
Christmas is a thought-provoking and reflective time for many who mourn the loss of a friend or family member. Blythe House Hospice is inviting you to remember loved ones and to support this year's Light up Life appeal. Families and friends are welcome to visit Blythe House before, during, and after the festival to reflect and write messages in the Light up a Life book at the Hospice. To dedicate to this appeal, please contact the fundraising department at Blythe House.
