The Living Well Service for Carers
Supporting Carers own health and wellbeing
Our Carers' Service is open to all adult carers and family members of our Living Well Service patients. Our aim is to support those who care for our patients and to help them maintain their own health and wellbeing, at the same time as caring for their loved one.
Key Worker for Carers
On joining the Carers' service, each carer is given a Key Worker, who is a Nurse or Counsellor. She helps them decide what support they need, and refers them to the services that are right for them. The key worker continues to be the first point of contact throughout their time in the service.
Services available to Carers
"Amazing place and people, made me realise I can cope, and help is there for me"
The Carers Service takes place on the first and third Monday of each month. It is a time for carers to focus on themselves and their own needs. Carers can have both individual and group support, to help them enjoy the best possible quality of life, as they cope with the demands of caring. The services we offer include:
"I have been supported and brought out of a dark lonely place. I have been given time to express my fears, anger and feelings. Having someone to listen and understand helped me regain my self-confidence and control..."
Carers' Support and Education Group
In the afternoons, from 1 - 2pm, the Carers' Support Group gives carers the chance to share experiences and learn from each other. From 2 - 3pm there is an information / education session, exploring a different topic each week. These sessions are designed to provide carers with information and techniques to help them look after their own health and wellbeing.
