We are saddened to learn that Iain George McKim Parker, former trustee of Blythe House Hospice, has died.
Iain, who served on our Board of Trustees from October 1997 to February 2015, died peacefully in Buxton on 9th September 2025.
Alongside his wife, Judy, Iain was a long-standing and dedicated supporter of the hospice. In fact, some of the very first fundraising meetings following our founding in 1989 were hosted at their home.
During his 17 years on the Board, Iain sat on the key management committees and helped to guide the hospice through a number of significant milestones, including:
- The move into our purpose-built hospice building at Eccles Fold, Chapel-en-le-Frith
- A visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester
- The opening of our shops in Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith
- Extensions to the hospice building which created therapy rooms, a new creative arts area, and a specialist children’s counselling room
- The launch of our hospice eBay site
Tim Mourne, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said: ‘Iain’s business expertise and connections, along with his passion and support made a lasting difference to Blythe House, and his contribution will be remembered with gratitude.’
We send our heartfelt condolences to Iain’s family, including his son and daughter, Andrew and Catherine.
Iain’s family will hold a private funeral service. A memorial service will take place at St John’s Church, Buxton, on Saturday 29th November 2025 at 11am.
