There are so many ways you can support Blythe House Hospice – and it doesn’t have to involve running a marathon or jumping out of an aeroplane! Pete, from Peak Dale, found a unique way to give back by donating his pre-loved motorbike through Giveacar, raising an incredible £456 for local care.
Pete said: ‘Blythe House supported my whole family in August 2014 when my wife, Julie, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The hospice involved us all in counselling to help us come to terms with her diagnosis. I was really struggling at the time, especially after my first wife died of cancer back in 1993. The counselling sessions were a huge help to us all.
‘My daughter, Milly held a danceathon at school and raised over £500 – we were all trying to give something back. I want to do the same wherever I can, and donating my motorbike felt like my way of saying thank you for the amazing care and support we received.’
When Pete decided it was time to part with his old bike, he searched for the best way to do it: ‘I hadn’t ridden it in about four years, and we needed the space, so I started looking into my options and came across Giveacar. The whole process was so easy – I just filled in a form, and they arranged collection. They kept me updated on the auction and told me how much it had raised. After fees, I was delighted that over £450 went to Blythe House.
