Could you get together with friends, family, colleagues or neighbours to host a coffee morning in aid of Blythe House Hospice?
Michael organised a Charity Race Night in his hometown of Whaley Bridge in October 2025, raising over an incredible £6,347 Blythe House Hospice services.
Following his diagnosis with bowel cancer in 2024 – and later with secondary, terminal peritoneum cancer – Michael has accessed support at Blythe House, including our Wellbeing Wednesday group.
Michael said: ‘I decided to host a fundraising event in support of Blythe House because of the incredible support I’ve received over the past 12 months. I attend their weekly wellbeing sessions, where I gain immense value from hearing how others navigate their own journeys. Blythe House is a pivotal and integral part of our local community, and we must ensure that its services remain accessible to everyone who needs them.
‘Hosting a charity night was fantastic fun. Not only does hosting your own event create real impact, it also brings friends and family together for a brilliant, shared experience that’s both meaningful and memorable.’
The Matlock Crochet Club meet up on a weekly basis and donate £3 each as a group to Blythe House Hospice. The group would like to especially thank Matlock Meadows who give the space to the group free of charge.
Penny, a regular attendee of the group said: ‘When we started the Matlock Crochet Club it was a chance for my friends and I to meet and share an activity that we all enjoy doing. I have been aware of the impact Blythe House has had in our local community- so we decided to start donating our knitting and small amount of money each week as a group to the charity. It just makes our community group feel more rewarding to take part in.’

There is a 1.9% + 30p payment processing fee applied to donations. The rest of the donation is received by Blythe House Hospice
