A runner travelled from Norway to take part in this year’s Blythe House Hospice Chatsworth 10k, bringing their family along to cheer them on, as hundreds of participants came together to raise more than £43,000 for local hospice care.
The annual Blythe House Hospice Chatsworth 10k took place on Sunday 13th September in the stunning surroundings of the Chatsworth Estate, with 653 people taking on the 10k challenge, and a further 80 runners enjoying the 3k route.
Headline sponsored by BRM Solicitors, the event saw people travel from across the country to take part, including Cumbria, Coventry and Shewsbury, as well as from throughout North Derbyshire and Sheffield.
The day brought together runners of all abilities, with families, friends and supporters lining the route to cheer participants on. After a cloudy start, the sun made an appearance, creating a fantastic atmosphere and very mild conditions for the event.
The money raised at the event will help Blythe House Hospice provide free hospice care to people living with a life-limiting illness, as well as support for their families, across North Derbyshire.
It costs around £2.6 million each year to provide Blythe House Hospice’s services. For seven in every ten people the hospice cares for, that support is made possible by the local community through events like the Chatsworth 10k, donations, high street shops, and gifts in Wills.
Rachael Gee, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at Blythe House Hospice, organised this year’s event. She said: ‘What a fantastic day we had at Chatsworth. It was wonderful to see over 700 runners take on the routes, with people travelling from near and far to be part of it.
‘The atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant, and we were so lucky to see the sun make an appearance. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves, supporting one another and raising money for Blythe House Hospice.
‘Events like the Chatsworth 10k take a huge amount of support to make them happen, so I’d like to say a massive thank you to every single runner, volunteer, sponsor, supporter and everyone who helped make the day possible. And, of course, thank you to BRM Solicitors for their support as our headline sponsor.
‘Every pound raised will help us continue providing free hospice care to people and families across our local communities, so we really can’t thank everyone enough for getting involved.’
